Black Women Are Art

This project was started in 2021 to make black women as art the topic of discussion. I created these pieces with acrylic paint. I used either a pallet knife and/or various paint brushes to create texture and emotion with each stroke of color. Growing up I never saw black art in stores, in hotels or restaurants. I definately didn't feel seen. I have two daughters who I never want to feel that way so I create art celebrating the beauty of black women. My artwork focuses on black womanhood and the journey to self acceptance and self love.
